Dani Designs - Radius Sanding Pad
By Andy @ 5:54 PM :: 936 Views :: 2 Comments :: :: All, Product Review

I purchased this Dani Sanding Pad a few weeks ago just to give it a try.  I figured if it didn't work, it would still be great for sanding the inside of vanity bowls.

Package arrived just in time for a large cove kitchen job.  The type we got was the 5" hook and loop that fits the Dynabrade and the Porter cable air sander.  Fit perfect and the sandpaper stuck great and covered the entire bottom of the pad.

I got right to it sanding a cove splash that was routed with the Betterly Cove Router.  We started with 150 grit sandpaper which removed the glue line and the offset rather quickly.  We decided that we would have the trainee try it.  No problems either.  In fact he looked like a pro after just a couple of minutes.

I was going to write a big long comprehensive review of this product, but let's face it, it is just a sanding pad.  The only thing that needs to be said is that it works perfect and for the price ($35.00) it will pay for itself in about 10 feet of cove.

Don't mistake the Dani Cove Pad with the one Dynabrade sells.  Although they look the same, I went through 3 Dynabrade pads because they fell apart after a short period of time.  We have been using the Dani pad for about a month and have had no durability issues.

PROS:

  • Inexpensive
  • Much faster than a regular pad
  • Saves sandpaper
  • Durable

CONS:

  • Nobody knows about them.

VERDICT:

  • Just buy one and try it because if you decide you don't like it for the cove, it works even better on a vanity bowl.  The pad contours to the curve of the bowl, so you end up using more surface of the sanding disk, speeding up the sanding process and saving sandpaper.

We have used this pad for 2 or 3 years and have found it works great. We use it on coved splashes and a whole lot of seamed in sinks. The ones we use are for PC 6 inch 6 hole RO sanders.

I bought the radius pad about a year ago. Actually Dani had to talk me into buying it, he told me he would buy it back if I didn’t like it, so I got it. I whish I had done it years ago. We use it on everything, all the way from our bentwood window frames to our solid surface sinks. We really like it on our sinks with a faucet platform, no more sander lines in the top that need to be sanded out by hand. Andy is right the pad will pay for it self in about 15 min. We use the PSA pad for all our woodworking uses and the hook pad for solid surface. I give the pads an A++. If any of you don’t have one in your shop you have on idea on how much time you are wasting, take it from a past nonbeliever who is definitely a believer now.

Thanks Dani,

Rob K
