For those of you that own or rent a commercial building, window signage could be the best way to spruce up the entrance.  I have been seeing more and more of these throughout our community and thought it could be a great addition to our building.

Typical signage was already up toward the top of our facade, but we wanted to showcase out product offering as customers approached the entrance.  It seems like wasted time as they cross the parking lot.  Why not give them something to read?

After some time designing, I finally came up with a simple way to convey the message we offered multiple, recognizable products.  There is nothing that puts customers more at ease than familiarity.  Everyone seems to recognize logos, either from magazines or shopping at the home centers.

After completing the design I called my local sign guy.  I wasn't sure what the material was so I described it as a sticker.  It is actually a pressure sensitive decal that comes off with ease when you’re finished.  It is the same material you see at the local fast food restaurant advertising the monthly special.

The other feature that makes this ideal for windows is the transparency from the inside.  The decal is stamped with a hole pattern which only blocks 10% of the light, keeping our showroom nice and bright.  And last, the price is right.  This decal was only about $100 although we did the design and installation.

Installation Steps:

  • Clean the window thoroughly.
  • Unroll the top half of the decal and remove backing film.
  • One person needs to hold the top in place
  • Align and slowly press to glass with wallpaper broad knife.
  • After top is in place, remove the bottom backer film.
  • Keep decal from toughing window and work the decal to the glass from the middle down.

No matter how many times we worked it, there were always some air bubbles but after a few days, the bubbles disappeared.  Give it a try and let me know how it works out.
