Gemstone, America’s Premier Sink Manufacturer, is at it again.  Gemstone is announcing its latest addition, the 2716-US single bowl kitchen sink.  The “U” stands for Universal Design.  The 2716-US Universal Design single bowl kitchen sink is Gemstone’s latest commitment to Universal Design and the need for sinks that meet the criteria for ADA, while fitting everyone’s need.  “Fabricators around the country have been asking me for a single bowl kitchen sink that meets ADA requirements, that is certified to meet ANSI requirements, that they don’t have to cut down, and that fits in a 30” cabinet,” said Jeffrey Smith, Gemstone’s Sales and Marketing Manager.

Michael Reis, Editor/Associate Publisher of Stone World magazine, passed away last Friday. At just 43 years old, news of Michael's death is deeply saddening. Michael was a strong advocate for the natural stone industry, a mainstay at industry related events around the globe, and a personal friend of many in the industry. He will be sorely missed.

As housing sales have begun to improve, architects report that they are finding more homeowners inquiring about home improvements, and especially kitchens and bathrooms. They’re the last spaces to be downsized when the economy struggles, and the first to be upgraded with new trends, products, and materials when it rebounds, according to Kermit Baker, chief economist for the American Institute of Architects (AIA). Metals, Bison Built, Computer Bracket Solutions) pledged to donate a portion of all of their proceeds to the Leukemia Society, the largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer, in order to aid in research about the disease that ravages so many lives and leaves so many families grieving their loved ones each year. We did this to commemorate the amazing life led by one very special man, Bill Kendall, father of one of our employees, Shannon Kendall. Bill passed earlier this year, after fighting a long battle with CLL, or Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia.
