I'll jump in with a female opinion. My husband used Avonite for our small entryway and I loved it at first, but now hate it. The shine dulled considerably over the years and scratches are all over it. Yes it can be sanded, but what guy wants to bother doing that all the time - not mine and probably not many others! He's installed Corian floors in some customer bathrooms, with no complaints from them and it's been a while since installation, but bathroom floors most likely don't suffer heavy abuse like an entryway does. I don't ever want solid surface as flooring again....end of story. PS. Yes I know Avonite is softer than Corian but I don't care.

Peter Carpenter, you are right about that tile being slippery. I have it in my house in Jiangmen and in the Apartment in Dongguan. Getting out of the shower in bare feet is a bit like wearing roller skates.

Years ago (23+) we took some off color fountainhead (Verde) and cut it up into 1 foot squares. It went in as tiles around the CEO's pool. It wasn't any more slippery than any other tile even when wet. In fact your bare feet seemed to grip it.

As for traditional surfacing used as flooring, I have been seeing tons of E stone used as flooring in projects in Hong Kong.

Lenny I have just put an ss floor in our toilet and we only have bare feet inside our home no shoes etc and I have polished it to grey scotch brite so it’s pretty shiny. We have perfect grip on the floor and no one has slipped in there, even when I have a few misfires aiming on Friday nights.

We just did a shower floor and it was kinda shinny but not really that slippery. The 120 grit was better while the finer finish looked a lot better.
