We only concentrated on the countertop related companies and not plumbing. There were a ton of sinks suppliers and the like that I have no interest. There are a few companies that make solid surface or quartz sinks we liked, but the Kohler and others were overlooked on purpose.

More to come.

Chemcore showcased a few new ideas with sinks and faucets.

First of its kind, an undermount sink option for laminate countertops. It is comprised of a solid surface ring that is glued to the underside of the laminate countertop. Laminate is then trim flush with the ring, sanded and finished.

The ring prvides a seal between the laminate and sink, protecting the subtop from water.

The 'Oasis' Ultimate Sink Kit comes with a sink and the Counterseal. Kitchen kit is $149 and the vanity version is $88.

With farm sinks becoming more popular, Chemcore has introduces a new design named the 'Farm House Porcelain'. Retails for $199 and comes in white and bisque.

And finally, Chemcore now offers the new twist spray kitchen faucet by Huntington Brass. Eliminating the push button spray found on many faucets, the twist to spray offers greater reliability. Comes in Chrome and Nickle Satin with a retail price of $139 and $149. repectively.

Be sure to mention the KBIS show special and save 15% on any single order. Good through July 2011 so order yours today.

Andy,

I see the idea, but the question is why? The vanity looks goofy at best because you are adding a third material and texture, and if you are going to glue solid surface to the underneath of laminate, why not glue a solid surface sink directly without the ring? You can buy a solid surface sink cheaper than the ring if you buy right. Plus....if you really want a "ring" for your undermount bowl, why not use scrap to make one yourself, and put a little "post consumer" recycled material back into the top, rather than paying $88 for it?

I agree, better to order yours today.....because they'll pull the plug on this idea within 6 months. ;^)

"Just because you CAN doesn't mean you SHOULD" seems to apply here.

I think the kit is for those companies that don't offer solid surface and do not have the ability to cut their own ring.

For $88 you get the ring, sink and hardware. Not positive if the adhesive is included.

Ok, so the sink comes with it. It's still ugly and if they're going to glue a ring to the top, they might as well glue a solid surface bowl to the top and make it look like it was meant to be.

I admit it...beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and luck for me or Christy may never have agreed to marry me!

Karran has transformed the way sinks are being mounted.  Not only are they perfecting solid surface to laminate, their stainless steel sinks mounted directly to solid surface and laminate are making a huge impression on consumers.

What's new, Karran has expanded their line of stainless with new designs along with the 22 degree and 45 degree bevel router bits.

The new Edge Sinks are the E-260R (60/40), E-160 (60/40 with lowered center devider), and the Edge E-560L.

Two new options for finishing the sink is the 22 degree and 45 degree bevel.  Both offer a better transition with solid surface.  Using the angle router bit makes finishing the sink edge easier without effecting the sink. This speeds up the fabrication do to the fact you will not have to match the surrounding stainless steel if it accidentally gets hit with the sander.

Many of the displays were mounted in the new Formica 180fx brand laminate. Being able to seam a sink into the laminate has made the new Formica designs that much better. Eliminating the silicone joint between the stainless steel and solid surface creates a clean, beautiful finish.

The new router bits and sinks can be purchased directly from www.karran.com . Check out the installation guide HERE.

Richard Magee, with Gemstone Sink and Bowl Company, was manning the booth showcasing their new products.

First is the new Farmer's Sink which comes in solid surface and cement. Dimensions of the Farmers Sink 27" x 17" x 9.5" deep.  Front of the sink can be inlayed, engraved or appliqued for that custom look.  Made using eco friendly resin and concrete. Comes in a variety of colors.

The second sink is the new 1514 Square Vanity Bowl.  Unique design features include a sloping front, for easy ADA compliant installation and the 'Offset' drain, which keeps any mold or bacteria that may accumulate in the drain from splashing back into the bowl.

Both sinks are available from www.Gemstoness.com or contact Richard Magee direct at 574-294-8899, email - rmagee@gemstoness.com

Hanstone made a splash with their new colors highlighted by three distinct models. Each model wore a unitard matching the sheet material.  You can barely see them...right.

Anyway, they took some Polaroids of Val and me with the models.  I chose the girl on the left, Val posed with the guy in the middle. Talk about embarrassing. With a couple dozen folks starring at me while the lady snaps a photograph makes me a bit uncomfortable.  Val had no problem hoping right up there to get her photo taken.

On display were some new solid surface and quartz colors, but nothing had been determined as of the KBIS show. We took a survey asking our opinion on the different colors. Based on all the input, they will make their final selections to add their lines of surfacing materials.
