Kelsey, Las Vegas is just a 4-1/2 hour drive for me, Chicago takes a lot more effort!

humm... Chicago was a 5 hr drive for me... maybe thats why I went... However, that was my last time to ever go to Chicago.

When we got there... the news was the mayor wanted the national guard to come and patrol "Chiraq" as he called it, saying there was more murders there everyday than in Iraq.  The hotel was like $180 a night, only to find out I had to pay $53 a night to park my car... almost came to $300/night with all the taxes and fees..   then went to food section at the show... my wife and I got 2 hot dogs , 2 bags of chips, and 2 drinks and it was like $26...

We encountered many homeless mothers on the streets with their kids with signs saying please help us, homeless people asking for handouts... the Doorman told us only to walk on Michigan Ave.. not to venture over if we walked... makes me wanna go there...

I'll take Vegas anyday over that town. At least when you are approached in Vegas ... they are wanting to give instead of receive... GiddyUp!!

Gene, and all, look forward to seeing you at KBIS. Gene, my favorite booth is the couple with the handpainted toilet seats. HOW DO YOU MAKE A LIVING doing handpainted toilet seats?

Samsung Staron had a great booth with a better location.  They showcased the new Radianz quartz colors along with the Staron, Tempest and Recycled Content Series.

We signed up for the drawing for the Galaxy Tab, but did not win. Maybe next time.

    New colors:

Samsung Staron - Sanded Birch, Sanded Papyrus, Sanded Tundra, Sanded Clay, Aspen Milk, Pebble Chiffon, Pebble TeaRose, Tempest Peak, Tempest Adamantine, and Tempest Colluvium.

Samsung Radianz - Caucasus Gray and Kunlun Ink

All colors are nice compliments to their color palette for both commercial and residential applications.

Along with their new brochures and colors, the new Staron and Radianz website is much improved.  Visit here www.staron.com

Silestone  introduced sixteen new colors, two new color series (nebula and galactic) and a new quartz integrated sink called the "Integrity" sink.

The galactic color series emulates natural stone material while the nebula series is fine pattern, marble look.

But most impressive was their integrated, seamed-in sink. Cast from Silestone for a one piece design it is available in select colors. It is a fairly small sink, more for a vanity or bar. The overflow is a bit unsightly unless you like large chrome badges covering the hole.  I would have rather just seen a hole and properly located in front, rather than the rear of the sink.

Match was as you expect, close but not exact.  Beveling the opening made it less noticeable. See image below.

I think I expected to see a little more at KBIS than was actually there. Many of the "green" manufacturers were absent, probably because they go to all the Green Expos rather than KBIS.

If you were a plumber, KBIS was probably the place to be. I don't think I'll make it a regular event.

    Just my $.02
