Hi friends, I wanted to share something we have done recently to get our name out there more.
What motivated us to do this recently is we learned the big box stores from 75 miles away have done several jobs in our small area. Because Homer is so small I was able to learn who some of the jobs were done for. What got my att. is that we never had a chance to bid on them. This poster is a low cost way to get our name and faces out there. This poster was done for under 200.00 and a bit of my time. I also made some cutting boards up for the merchants who allowed us to put up these posters. |

Those are nice. I like the one with your mugshots. Did someone design them for you? |

Thanks Andy very much.
I designed this myself. I wanted to catch your eye with the "Gerard" name in a bright color then I wanted to show a typical scene where a customer spreads samples out during a selection process at home. The props suggest local flavor. Alaskan Grown, Spenard Builders Supply pen, KBBI public radio mug and a Homer Brew cap on my bro.
I had the concept in my head for some time. I set up and arranged all the props and samples along with the pad (blank lettering) and got up on a ladder to take the pic of it all. I then cropped it . Just in case my arrangement sucked I took separate pics of all the components including a shot of my kitchen floor with the slate. The design tech loved it the way it was, all she did was add more floor and place the photos in a manner to not crowd anything. I gave her the list of what was to be on the pad and she inserted the lettering as if a female had done it (computer script) I was very pleased with the final proof. I gave her and her squire a cutting board in the colors to match their kitchens. People are seeing already in just 2 days.
thanks friends

Very nice! You are thinking like the artist you are. The pad is an excellent idea and your layout was well though out. Next time go to a wedding rental place and try a' tux with tools' picture. |

Don't be surprised if someone steals that idea and uses it at their own showroom. I'll keep my eyes out for anyone infringing on your copyright. Just give me a heads up if you decide to stop by my shop. |

Locally this is how we do band posters when we have a gig. People look for them around here.
Go for it folks! just not in my area, sometimes they fall off walls and stuff ;) |

They do have a kind of "America's Most Wanted" look about them don't they? Just teasin' David. If it works for ya, mug it up. Joe |

go ahead, take your shots. ( I have it coming) Andy, it's only one poster, I took a close up of the pad so some of the old guys could read the writing. The one of my bro was risky, single guy who is no stranger to the night life in this small town. I just figured my sweet and (safe ) smile would counter act. We are kinda like the "Gallant and Gufus" show |

You know what I like about them, is you are enticed to read them. In the right setting they should really work well. Next time you may want to include a discount or offer if they mention the poster. That way you will be able to track the effectiveness of the ad. Just a thought. |
