See Andy,

The clarification makes all the difference!

After everyone moves away from Andy on the bench..Andy quickly adds...

It was the little hamburger gum. I took a bite out of it, and replaced it on the shelf dripping with my saliva. I have been charged with Product tampering, endangering the public, and 'Gum Mayhem".

All the inmates gather around Andy, whereupon he is greeted by slaps on the back, handshakes and the following statments:

"Way to go man!"

"Good Job!"

'Man I could learn from you, will you be my mentor?"

I think it is important this time of the year to remind everyone about the Alice's Restaurant entire Massacree, thank the Arlo. Lenny has once again fulfilled that requirement. Thank you, Senpai.
.........................................................................................................................

Joe, I think you are being too harsh. To those folks who live in an increased crime area, that data is the data that matters. Arizona has become the kidnapping capital of (at least) the United States. That matters.

Maybe all y'all's argument is too broad?

Tom,

I knew you would recognize the hidden Arlo reference. I have listened to that almost EVERY Thanksgiving as long as I can remember. Its a Lenny Tradition (Along with Santa Claus and his old Lady...by Cheech and Chong for Christmas listening).

I missed the last few years, as thats a hard one to find in Asia, but will try my best to dig it up this year.

Tom:

Overall, crime is down substantally in Arizona and if you aren't involved in the drug trade or smuggling illegal alians, your chances of getting kidnapped in Arizona are about as good as anywhere else. Context is everything.

If you don't engage in high risk sexual practices and intraveneous drug use, your chances of getting AIDS is about the same as dying in a fire. Not many worry about an incendiary death. You can live in Arizona all you want, just don't smuggle drugs or alians. Same thing.
Kelsey's calling me a dumbass and I'm the one being too harsh?

We agree that increasing crime data that matters to folks in an area of increasing crime. As sympathatic as I am, that does not give these folks the right to be illogical and say that because crime is rising in their area it's rising everywhere and that unemployment/recession is the cause of the crime rise when they've proven no linkage.

Andy:

Let me join your childhood theivery confession. I swiped a toy that my mom wouldn't buy for me and was too stupid not to play with it in front of her. She marched my a$$ right back down to Mr. McCorkle and made me apologize and return it. I can play that memory like a videotape in my head.

Joe,
I understand your point. You don't seem to understand mine. If you live in an area that is getting more dangerous, and crime is certainly up in many areas, then the rest of the country doesn't matter.

Tom:

I do understand your point that to people in rising crime areas, the rest of the country doesn't matter.

Do you understand my point that as sympathetic as I am, this does not give these people the right to claim that because crime is up for them it is up for the rest of us? And that they can't claim a causal relationship between unemployment/recession and rising crime without proof?

If the crime rate is up for them and if the rest of the country doesn't matter to them, why do they make these unsubstantiated claims?

Joe, I knew you would argue the point, so that is why I posted cities from all across the US.  Could I have posted all fifty states, I'm sure...  but you would have had a arguement for that too.

Got it buddy! Profuse thank yous! I couldnt wait till T day. I have listened to this 5 times already!

I played it for the engineers, they speak some english but didnt get it. So I explained the times, Viet Nam, student protests, Arlo etc, and explained each joke.

Guess which part they thought was the funniest? It was the DI (drill instructor talking real fast about how to fill out the form on the bench). Many of these guys have been in the Chinese Army and DI's seem to transcend cultures, they must be the same anywhere.

I told them about another Arlo song that Arlo sang and talked thru.

He said" you wanna have some fun?

Bum a dime from someone and call the FBI on a payphone..and say, I like Uncle Ho and Chairman Mao, and all their fieinds are coming over for dinner."

Tom when they heard "Chairman Mao" they got real interested.

I followed it up with " 2 minutes later, and not 2 minutes from when you first put the dime in, but 2 minutes from when you first  picked up the phone, files  on tape are rolling, computer files are opened and 10,000 agents all over the world are looking at you.

They have many questions that need answers. If this guy really knows chairman Mao, why would he call us and tell us about it? How could he make dinner for that many people if he has to use a pay phone? Where did he get that dime? There are plenty of guys that cant get dimes."

Then Arlo goes into a riff about how hard it is to be an FBI agent. He says "I feel sorry for them because they need to follow me all around. I am under 22 so I fly at half price, student rates. But they make you wait until last to see if there are any open seats. Imagine the FBI sees me trying to catch a plane, and the agent books a ticket, and fills the very  last seat, so I cant get on. So he gets off then I get on the newly opened seat and fly away! Its Tough being an FBI guy!"

 Funny stuff!

It had the Chinese guys in stitches! Which song was that from?

Lenny, I could not bear you going through Thanksgiving alone and with no Arlo. Glad I could come through.

Are your in laws cooking anything for your Yankee butt?

No clue as to what the song is, but I'd like to find out someday. Sounds fun.

Wait! Yes I do

The Paws (pause?) of Mr. Claus I think. I remembered the part about being the guy who has it worse than you do.

................................................................

I Googled it. If you can, go here.

The Pause of Mr. Claus.

...

Well, wait a minute. It's hard to be an FBI man. I mean, first of all, being an FBI man,
you have to be over 40 years old. And the reason is that it takes at least
25 years with the organization to be that much of a &@?!@#%. It's true.
You just can't join, you know. It needs an atmosphere where your natural

&@?!@#%ness can grow and develop and take a meaningful shape in
today's complex society.....
