I use AlphaCAM but do not have the Park Industry Discovery. There is also MasterCAM which seems to be rated highly in the industry.

I am not familiar with alphacam or mastercam, but we use EasyStone.  I am guessing you are looking for something to manipulate dxf's and apply tooling paths etc....

EasyStone, is , well,   easy.  And very intuitive.   fwiw

Can't imagine it not working with Park gear.

Also, I can't imagine why EasyStone wouldn't work , or couldn't be made to work, with solid surface materials/cnc's as well as stone, for any of you guys interested.

I hope you found someone with a Discovery to help you out. If not let me chime in here. EasyStone, AlphaCAM, MasterCAM, SurfCAM, you name it is does not matter. They will all run any machine that uses NC code to drive it. This is every machine tool on Earth to an extent. The standardized NC format allows for many "Dialects" to be used and as such Fanuc M-codes may vary slightly from Osai and AB controllers may or may not read both out of the box. However the beauty of higher end CAD/CAM packages is there ability to adapt to any machine tool that uses standard NC format machine code. The Post Processor that is the code generation engine for your software will see what needs to be done via the drawing and path information and translate this to NC code that is viable for your machine, regardless of the manufacturer. 3-axis, 5-axis, dual tables, automatic loading systems these are all levels of complexity that should be a factor in the type of software you buy. The manufacturer of the machine should be able to help guide you in deciding what software to use, but they should not be the last word in what you use on YOUR machine. Again, I hope you got in contact with someone who can help you. STU

Have you talked to Park to see if they know of anyone running different software?
