Congratulations, Bill. My oldest just finished his first year.

Is the animation referred to CAD style animation, or anime and cartoon animation?

    Tom,

Thank you. According to Alex, (this is way over my head) "it's actually neither, it's 3D character modeling and animation". Later this week, when he gets it posted on youtube, I will post a link to his latest and last school project showing off what he can do with this stuff. It absolutely blows my mind.

Congratulations. Education is not something you can just go out and buy. I remember how dedicated you have to be to make it till the end. Way to stick with it.

Thanks to all for your kind words and thoughts.

Andy, as of last night when pronounced "graduated", he changed from "student" to "unemployed" just like his dad. We are both very activly looking. And yes, it took alot of dedication on his part. (and alot on his mom and I since being unemployed to continue to pay for all this)

Wags, if he can find a job doing what he does best, I would gladly be supported by him. And there is still one at home finishing up 10th grade in 10 days. She had 3 pieces in an art show last week. Sharon and I are proud of her as well!

This is the link to the video he was part of producing. He was part of the team mentioned in the newspaper in the beginning and again in the credits. He was responsible for the room. (walls, wallpaper, window, shelf, pictures, flooring, shadows, etc.) Each member had a portion of this to do and then it was "stitched together". I do not understand much of this but it took over 4 days of computer time at the college computers just to do the "rendering", a couple hours to stitch it together and another day for the sound.

Congratulations, Bill.  Allex's team did a nice job on that project.  It cracked me up watching it.  The credits were funny too.

Yeah, the textures seem like the biggest you know what to do. I noticed the texture on the wall paper in particular. Was the coat of arms his idea?

Pretty impressive for a college team with such little time to get the project completed.

Not only little time, but no budget. This is a bunch of college kids. I am truly amazed by what can be done.

    Proud Parents Part II

Those of you that went to the ISSFA meeting in New England 2 years ago might remember me telling the whole group how proud I was of my daughter being accepted to a very prestegeous art high school, the Las Vegas Academy.

At the end of last school year she was accepted into an advanced art program for college credit. She had several projects to complete over the summer and has additional work to perfrom during the year, over and above the normal work load for a student in all honors classes.

Well, in today's mail she was notified that she had been selected for a solo art exhibit at the Las Vegas Library Art Galleries for next summer! And did I mention she is in 11th grade!
