To be fair about Ted,  I know he has hunted with out fences here in AK,  he did a concert at the fair one year....so he could right off a hunt I have no doubt.
I almost had a fist fight with a guy in the front seat of a truck  10 yrs ago about Ted.        This guy met Ted and helped him reduce a pig population down on a Texas game farm.  Ted likes to kill animals...lots of animals.  He like to explots the killing of animals,  he does lots of hunting videos to pay for the hunt.  He is the kinda guy you love to hate,  he is right on most of the time with his point of view on guns and gun control

I  obviously like to hunt but only for what I need,  while I enjoy all aspects of  "The hunt"
I don't get off  souly on the killing part like I feel he does.  I wrote him off when I saw him advertizing posters of his daughter on a rhino kill or him and his Monster bronco.  I also caught his show,  "spirit of the wild"  him in a native American head dress,  a show for him to justify his "nautural instincts"
just another guy makin money off killin $hit.   I don't like him to represent me as a hunter.   just bored here spewing out my stupid opinion  Like i said, love to hate him cause he make a good point on how to deal with repeat violent criminals.  I think there is a video clip out there.     He is tough love for sure, I do respect that.

Hi David G,

I saw Ted a couple of times in concert and he was pretty good, although No David Bowie band . with that serious gutar player of his at the time (Stevie Ray Vaughn)   or Alvin Lee (Ten years after) but on guitar he was OK.

However I do hate the fenced animal thingee, although you are correct about Ted, he is in for the money. As for me, I stopped hunting early, killed my last deer when 15, because it cried like a baby before dying. It just took the heart out of it for me at that time.

However with the economy as it is, I am resuming hunting to put meat on the table. Nothing like Ted, no Rhinos or trophy hunts…just meat for the table. Im like you, I kill it and eat it.

I do like Teds stance on gun control, although as a person I most likely wouldnt like him. Im betting 5 minutes in each others presence we would be exchanging fists.

OMG I think we just derailed the lighter side, but thats OK, me and everyone else derailed my patent post so I guess thats the norm (not to be confused with norm Walters) up in here.

I stopped hunting, once I came back from the ultimate hunt... in VietNam.

I believe this is the clip your referring to

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nurM0mY9N10

While I don't hunt myself, I do understand the natural need for thinning the hurd.. Perhaps as humans we need the "Heard" thinned a tad also :)

Thanks Wags,

When it comes to gun control you gotta love ole Ted Nugent. However fencing deer up in a corner and shooting them did not endear me to him.

Now that this thread is derailed let me add....While Ted may get all steroid about my observations..in the end I have to ask Ted, are you willing to come down to Texas way and face off in the street?

Unlike deer, Im armed and I shoot back (and generally shoot  first) and best of all....I got no fence to prevent my movements!

Norm.. Finally figured out how to do it !

David. Im certainly no fan of his music, in fact, listening to that link is the most I have ever heard, or want to hear of his 'music". Not everyone can, could or should, be in the military, I have no problem with that. I do respect that, in his own way, he is supporting, or at least acknowledging those that are serving. It makes no difference if you support a war, or any particular action the military undertakes, we all need to support the men and woman putting their lives on the line for all of us.

It's true that the Nuge is no Stevie Ray Vaughn (saw him about three months before he died. What a show!) or Alvin Lee or Beck, Peter Green, etc.

It also doesn't matter, because Ted was a mover and changer in the music business. As Lee ushered in the Nugents of the music industry, Ted ushered in the Eddie Van Halens and the Slashes. Speed rock has a pretty clear timeline for a movement. There are surprisingly few who really made it theirs for awhile. Ted was one.

Don't forget, he was also around before Alvin Lee did that extraordinary rendition of Woody Herman's Woodchoppers ball. The Amboy Dukes had a hit or two themselves by this time.

Tom,

How did I know an obscure musical reference would draw you into this discussion like a moth to a flame? Its because I know you, you have music in your soul.

I disagree that Ted was before Alvin Lee. I contend Ted and Alvin Lee were contemporaries and one did not precede the other. Both put out their first albums in 1967. Alvin Lee with 10 years after, and Ted with the Amboy Dukes. I actually liked the song by the Dukes “Journey to the Center of your mind” circa 1968 if memory serves correctly. While the Amboy Dukes were formed in 1965, Alvin Lees first band “The Jaybirds” was formed in 1962 and enjoyed local popularity in England and Hamburg Germany.

However with said I cannot condone Teds fence farms, herding deer up into corners for rich smucks to shoot. Now Im not against hunting, as I hunt too. But Ted might as well herd the deer into a shed and bore them to death with his guitar playing.

After all, we all agree, he is no Alvin Lee or Stevie Ray Vaughn. BTW, I cant express my disappointment, when seeing David Bowie on the serious moonlight tour. I saw him previously with Stevie, and it was awesome. Bowie still put on a great show, being the astute showman he is, but I sure did miss Stevie.

David, we need to post the crap out of this page just to move that pic back aways.

When I saw SRV and heard Life Without You live I actually wept.
True, I was stoned at the time, but still...

Lenny, I made the contemporary comment at the end of my post about the Amboy Dukes, so I agree with you on that. We were, however, focused on legend and infamy in the industry and Cat Scratch or Hammerdown were well after Ten Years After. Almost Ten Years Later, if you know what I refer to.

I don't remember if it was Carlos Alomar or Adrian Belew (remember him - of Mr. Balloon man fame?)who was his guitarist in that tour, but that was the one I saw. When he held up the skull a la' Hamlet and Yorick on Cracked Actor? That was great stuff.

Let's face it, amongst Bowie's many talents, one of he most important was getting great guitarists. Mick Ronson was the most underrated guitarist in Rock and Roll.

As for the hunting thing, I don't know Jack about it, but it sounds more like safari for hire and that is too bad, indeed.

David,

that pix you posted had me cracking up. But in the end I gotta agree with Tom,
Lets post alot and move it backwards thru time.

Tom,

Im gonna leave ole Ted alone. I even bought some of CDs (most likely they were albums since it was a while ago). And I saw him in concert.  So enough said about his hunting ethics or lack thereof.

I agree that ole Bowie sure did round up some great guitars players.

Oh I cant remember who the gutarist was on that tour. It was kinda a magical evening, if ya know what I mean , so I was lucky to even notice that the guitarist wasnt SRV.

Hi Wags,

Thanks for that. Another example of Govt stupidity.

However Im sure Ive sent patents in upside down and sideways. Some patents (not mine) have even been written on paper bags and went thru. Im 10 for 10, none ever denied so I think the IT dept there  will straighten out this latest follly eventually.

Watch out for this new disease!

Very important information has just been made public that I think is something you should all be aware of:

'Gonorrhea Lectim'

The Center for Disease Control has issued a warning about a new virulent strain of this old disease. The disease is called Gonorrhea Lectim. (It's pronounced "Gonna re-elect 'im.")

The disease is contracted through dangerous and high risk behavior involving putting your cranium up your rectum.

Many victims contracted it in 2008 ..... but now most people after having been infected for the past 1-2 years are starting to realize how destructive this sickness is.  It's sad because it is so easily cured with a new procedure just coming on the market called 'Votemout'! (It's pronounced Vote 'Em Out.)

You take the first dose/step in 2010 and the second dosage in 2012 and simply don't engage in such behavior again; otherwise it could become permanent and eventually wipe out all life as we know it.

Several states are already on top of this like
Virginia and New Jersey , and apparently now Massachusetts with many more seeing the writing on the wall.

Please pass this important message on to all those bright folk you really care about.
