My table saw switch just went out.  Anyone know of a good replacement?  I want it to be the magnetic type just in case the power goes out and I forget to turn off the saw.

    Andy,

I got one from Grizzly for about half of the Delta price.

andy... what do you mean "went out?  most everything can be replaced in it...

did you take out the contacts and clean them, sand them flat if they had arc'd?

I use 230v 3 phase... so mine might be different?

I've never had one "go out"... had one fried by a lightning strike once

any electrical supply house has them... jeez... don't buy from Delta.

call me if you need any help...

We have a powermatic saw. When we changed out the switch to another powermatic, we also put in a relay that turned on the local vac at the same time, with a delay for the shut off. Works real well.

I did the same as you, Tom.  It does work great.  I set mine up to turn on my dust collector.  It has enough inertia that it has nearly full suction for many seconds after shutting down.  Hence no need for the delay shut down.

Heh, I wonder how much money I could have saved. Oh wait! That was back when I didn't worry about that stuff as much.

I had the same problem this week with the table saw. I had both the mag switch and capacitor go bad. I got both from grizzly.

I bought a cheap ass switch from Grizzly until I have time to check it out further. I think the switch was like $13.00. Probably a piece of cr@p.

Andy... Yeah, grizzly has such a reputation of being low quality.  About 12 yrs ago, I was using a Senco stapler to shoot a 1/2"x 3/8". I would shoot about 24 of these into each wood frame I was making.  The new Senco i paid about $250 for kept jamming, I finally got them to give my money back. I switched to Bostich... about the same thing... kept jamming, when you have 2 people per frame on a production assembly... it really delays.
I got a sale flyer from grizzly... they had a stapler for $39 so I ordered one as a spare when the other one jammed.
To make a long story short, after about 10 years, this cheap Grizzly stapler became the only one we used... we ran over 400,000 staples through it and never once had a jam.

We'll see how it does. Got them installed and they work fine, but hope they last awhile. Don't feel like spending any more money on the problem right now.

I was going to replace with a Delta switch and they wanted $56 for it and it would take a week to get. Not to mention the lady was a snob at the help desk.
