Anyone ever tried advertising on a pizza box.  We have the opportunity to advertise on a Round Table pizza box but don't have a good feeling about it.

ummmmm......... PizzaaaaaaaaOne of my favorite foods in the whole world!
But to answer your question from a pizza lovers view, I wouldn't waste the money. First thing I do is open the box without even a glance at the writing on the outside of it to make sure it's what I ordered then it's put it on a plate eat it, go back for more, eat it, put the leftovers in a ziplock and take the box out to the big garbage can. I couldn't even tell you what it said on the box but ask me what kind of Pizza it was!

I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss this idea. Even a pizza fan like Mike has to see the box at least three times. Initially, back for seconds and on the way to the trash. That may be more often than an ad buried in an eighth of a page in some magazine sitting on the coffee table and no one thinks that's a strange place to advertise.

Just like pizza, the proof is in the taste. If you get results cost effectively, who can argue?

    Joe

    P.S.:

If you do it, how about "This pizza is unable to stain a solid surface countertop from Olive Mill!"

See if you can get an add on the inside of the box.

Andy, i WAS OFFERED TOO... BUT DECLINED. HERE IS THE WAY I SAW IT. I RAN AN AD IN A LOCAL PHONEBOOK, FOR $800. AFTER 1 YEAR I HAD NO RESPONSES. LIKE A DUMBASS, I LISTENED TO THE AD SALESMAN, HE SAID I HAD NO EXPOSURE IN THE BOOK, JUST A LITTLE 1X3 SPACE. SO THE SECOND YEAR I DID COLOR, 4 LISTINGS IN THE BOOK $$$$$ I WAS EVERYWHERE. STILL, WHEN ANYONE CONTACTED ME, I ALWAYS ASKED THEM WHERE THEY GOT MY NAME. NOBODY SAID THE PHONEBOOK, IT WAS ALL REFERENCES. THEN THE GUY CAME AROUND THE THIRD YEAR, I WAS NOT NICE WHEN HE SAID I WAS MISTAKEN THAT ALL OF HIS OTHER ADVERTISERS SAW HUGE INCREASES.

I FIGURE A PHONEBOOK IS IN EVERY HOUSE, YET IT DID NOTHING FOR ME. PIZZA BOX WHO IN THE HELL READS IT. IT LOOKS LIKE A "CHEEZY" WAY TO BLOW MONEY!!

What if the pizza sucks?  What if you don't like olives?

How about make them some replacement table tops with your logo and # on it at the resturaunt,  that could be the ad fee.  Could work in any type of establishment for that matter.   When I see mcdonalds or other cattle feed food place litter scattered about it pisses me off,  do you want your name on that box lying on the rd?  jmo

I called their current advertiser and asked them if they got a response and they said no. I doubt I will do it.

I was at a local restaurant recently and there was a paper placemat under the piece of glass that covered the wood table. I thought about advertising on there. Think about it, if you are waiting for dinner and are bored you are going to read it.

    Norm:

Yours is an example of the "captive audience", like watching the trailers before a movie in the theatre. Unlike a billboard or a newspaper, the potential customers can't really get away. If a person is a "regular" in the restaurant, he will get repeated exposure too.

I think  the Name   "Olive Mill"  would make a great name for a Pizza joint

I think another good place to advertise is above the urinal in a martini type bar..like Joe said you need CAPTIVE audience...

I see they put sport pages up..what about offering the person a charge some money to put your ad on there...talk about a captive audience...when you are using a urinal in a busy restaurant or bar you hafta look forward...

to look left or right is a liability

Since it is often the women that want the new kitchen, how about the back of the door in restrooms?

Advertising to woman is the key, I think. I know the phone book no longer works. The other ideas have to be looked at.

I've been to a couple bars recently that actually have small monitors / flat panels above the urinals that run advertisements.

I also think there has to be some sort of tact or advertising ediquette..if thats speeled right..I know all kinds of great ways to advertise and get peole to see us..but it might be distasteful and do a DIS-service to us

for example: putting cards on windsheilds at a home show parking lot when you didn't rent a booth

the big mints in the urinal drain with your logo on it..you get seen but I dont want to be seen that way

I cant stand door hangers..but maybe CTs might be better

I also dont think you should go to home shows and hand out cards to the vendors...I always mess with poele that do that to me...why didnt you getta booth...scram!!!!!! I spent this booth money so you can sell me a half page in the local newspaper scram!!!!

what do youse think is an inappropiate way to advertise?

just in case I am doing that way, i like to hear what others think

Gene, I have a vendor that I usedfor closet organizers when I do large remodels, he tried to sell me some health juice the other day and was relentless about it, that was a big turn-off for me. I know in this economy you have to diversify but don't try to sell me crap when I say I am not interested.
