Anyone try this Makita RO sander. It has the dual modes like the Festool and was curious if it was a good quality sander.

One advantage of the Makita BO 6040 is I make a radius sanding pad that fits on that sander, the pad also fits the Bosch 1250

Is it a pretty nice sander?

A lot of fabricators use it in Europe and it sells for under $300.00 It uses a M8 6 hole pad so all standard 6 hole sandpaper will work. Replacement pads sell for about $25.00 Festool pads are $38.00
Festool
Sanding stroke 3/16"
Orbits per minute 3,300 - 6,800
Rotary motion speed 320 - 660 rpm
Makita BO 6040
Sanding stroke 7/32"
Orbits per minute 1,600 - 5,800
Rotary motion speed 180 - 670 rpm
The Makita has a little larger stroke with more speed control, but runs a 1,000 rpm slower in random mode.

Thanks for the information Dani. Looks like it would be a good unit on the direct drive. The FESTOOL are just real pricey although they work well.
