    OK, This is the way I'm going to be able to retire.  In case you do not know what this is, it is a carburetor spacer for a Weber 32/36 carburetor.  I attempt to keep my fabricators drop from jobs from going into the landfill.  I tell all my guys if you are going to throw it away to please call me and I will pick it up.  I use the drop to make samples or to practice with the material with new fabricators.  I race a Datsun 210 in Sport Car Club of American road racing and this will be this years model of my carb spacer.  While we were at it we made 9 spacers.  I have given one away so I have a few spacers that I will attempt to sell for racing budget.  I know this is not countertop type of a post, but I would encourage you to find some type of use for all your drop from your jobs.  I know the green product manufactures do not want their material to go into a land fill.
    I guess for this post I will use the name that Gene gave me a while back:

    That is one thick casket. Did you use the 1 1/4" material cause it looks really thick?

    Good Day to all,

    Andy it is 3/4 inch PaperStone.  We had a job in Wichita that did not have a straight line in any of the counter.  The did a build up on the edge to make it 1 1/2 inch thick counter.  They had a CNC and they had good yield out of the sheets, but there was a lot of odd sized drop.
    I made one of spacer last season by hand with a little different design.  I'm attempting to sell these spacers to other racers and offering custom made spacers for someone that might want something that they can not find that is already made.  One of my fabricators is an old gearhead and he enjoyed doing something other than cutting out a counter top.
    Before I did this I tested PaperStone by letting it soak in race gas for over a month to make sure it would not break down.  It passed the test just fine.  The color was not even effected.
    Also Andy I'm still attempting to get the part number for the <!--[if gte mso 9]> Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE <!-- /* Font Definitions */ @font-face {font-family:"Cambria Math"; panose-1:2 4 5 3 5 4 6 3 2 4; mso-font-charset:1; mso-generic-font-family:roman; mso-font-format:other; mso-font-pitch:variable; mso-font-signature:0 0 0 0 0 0;} @font-face {font-family:Calibri; panose-1:2 15 5 2 2 2 4 3 2 4; mso-font-charset:0; mso-generic-font-family:swiss; mso-font-pitch:variable; mso-font-signature:-1610611985 1073750139 0 0 159 0;} /* Style Definitions */ p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal {mso-style-unhide:no; mso-style-qformat:yes; mso-style-parent:""; margin:0in; margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:11.0pt; font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"; mso-ascii-font-family:Calibri; mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-fareast-font-family:Calibri; mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-hansi-font-family:Calibri; mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-bidi;} .MsoChpDefault {mso-style-type:export-only; mso-default-props:yes; mso-ascii-font-family:Calibri; mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-fareast-font-family:Calibri; mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-hansi-font-family:Calibri; mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-bidi;} @page Section1 {size:8.5in 11.0in; margin:1.0in 1.0in 1.0in 1.0in; mso-header-margin:.5in; mso-footer-margin:.5in; mso-paper-source:0;} div.Section1 {page:Section1;} --> <!--[if gte mso 10]> Onsrud phenolic cutter that will cut 1 1/4 PaperStone in one pass.
    Gene I know this is not as neat has your PaperStone Plyboo inlay counter tops, but I did like the way these have turned out.

    Paul - any time you need someone to ride along with you let me know. I just started solo racing this past summer and I'm completely hooked. I'm not up to club racing yet but I hope to slowly work my way into it in the future.

    Do you ever make it up to Road America or Blackhawk?

    If you are hooked you are in trouble.  I would suggest joining AA (<!--[if gte mso 9]> Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 <!-- /* Font Definitions */ @font-face {font-family:"Cambria Math"; panose-1:2 4 5 3 5 4 6 3 2 4; mso-font-charset:1; mso-generic-font-family:roman; mso-font-format:other; mso-font-pitch:variable; mso-font-signature:0 0 0 0 0 0;} @font-face {font-family:Calibri; panose-1:2 15 5 2 2 2 4 3 2 4; mso-font-charset:0; mso-generic-font-family:swiss; mso-font-pitch:variable; mso-font-signature:-1610611985 1073750139 0 0 159 0;} /* Style Definitions */ p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal {mso-style-unhide:no; mso-style-qformat:yes; mso-style-parent:""; margin-top:0in; margin-right:0in; margin-bottom:10.0pt; margin-left:0in; line-height:115%; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:11.0pt; font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"; mso-ascii-font-family:Calibri; mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-fareast-font-family:Calibri; mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-hansi-font-family:Calibri; mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-bidi;} .MsoChpDefault {mso-style-type:export-only; mso-default-props:yes; mso-ascii-font-family:Calibri; mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-fareast-font-family:Calibri; mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-hansi-font-family:Calibri; mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-bidi;} .MsoPapDefault {mso-style-type:export-only; margin-bottom:10.0pt; line-height:115%;} @page Section1 {size:8.5in 11.0in; margin:1.0in 1.0in 1.0in 1.0in; mso-header-margin:.5in; mso-footer-margin:.5in; mso-paper-source:0;} div.Section1 {page:Section1;} --> <!--[if gte mso 10]> Paul

    I can already tell it's going to be a problem. I'm located in Milwaukee. My wife and my wallet are happy that there's a competitive stock vehicle class with the Milwaukee solo SCCA. I'm sure in a couple years if I get a bigger garage I'll have a dedicated racing vehicle.

    Some new dampers and a larger front sway bar are in my not too distant future still.

    Good Day to all,
    I had some fun with this posting and I got some feedback that others enjoyed it also.  For all you car guys I will add to it.  I like to joke about my new business of making carb spacers.  I have landed my first custom carb spacer job.  We are going to make six spacers for a vintage Porsche powered sports racer.  The only problem with this job is that it is a barter type of job.  The person that needs these is doing work on my race cylinder head to make more horse power.  It is a good trade.
    thanks Paul

    Any trade that adds horsepower and doesn't add weight is a good one.
