David.. Im sure there are some of each. Most of the ones I have met are very zealous about "green". When I look in the mirror, I guess im somewhere in the middle. I recycle, don't use plastic when possible, even grocery bags, I try to think about what if I had to keep everything I brought into my home for a year.. packaging etc.. I drive a vehicle that gets better than average mileage and of course my Harley.. get over 50 MPH on that ! But im not a zealout, I like to think realistic about it. I believe much of the "warming" of the planet does have to do with population growth, makes sense to me, but I also feel much of it is cyclical in nature. If not, what caused the last ice age to end? Man wasn't here.

I guess business wise, we look at it both ways.. We are an eco friendly shop, water is all recycled and purified, air leaving the shop is cleaner than coming in, protective masks etc are manditory, but, we also look at filling a need of the market. We were the first Quartz fabricator in Az 13 years ago. Guess the company is use to being in the forefront of what's happening. On another note, every employee gets health care etc, equal from top to bottom.. We even look at ways to recycle our scrap, in fact, are looking into grinders to recycle the waste for landscaping purposes.

Others care to chime in?

Wags,    You have the attitude I look for.  Not many will use the word "eco friendly"

Thats walkin the walk.      Man if I could get away with fitting into and utilizing  a smaller  pick-up I would.      I would have a Harley too if there was somewhere to ride it around here.

I get an online Green Building newsletter (I'm sure I'm not the only one) that you can view and subscribe to here.

Gene,

Do you want to go completely "green" or just have that as part of what you offer?

Yes, Linda..I would love to go "COMPLETELY" Green, I cant afford to have COMPLETLEY, but i do my part

Once working in these houses and bidding in these buildings, and especially cutting Formaldehyde free MDFs, etc..i cant ever see me going back even if this Green thing does vanish...I wont ever go back to just cutting up and sanding the woods i useta

its about health and saving energy and money to me..I realized saving money is making money..its not so much about Al Gore or even the corporate green Movement..its quality of life, and when can afford it i will build a sustainable house..I would love to be off the grid.....people rolls their eyes at me alot on jobsites and stuff..but who cares..........Green or whatever the word people want to use for Sustainability has been 90% of my business projects for the past 6 months

But there is always something in my projects thats not Green...the Green arrogant people will go THATS not GREEN............ya know how to respond to that...you say I know, and they are right....Then they dont know what to say cause your honest..

Green is not all or nothing.to me .if ya want to be 1% Green...welcome to the Green..if not welcome anyway....Watch out for people who boast about how green they are and have their arms crossed.and grin about how wonderful they are and everyone else who aint like them isnt..blah,blahblah..they are usually in need of compliments and attention, Green gene signing off now........

Hello... I wanted to ask how this product was being sealed properly. I have not found a sealer that will work on the product. I can stain this product with a number of household items.

I talked directly with the folks at IceStone and they recommend the following:

  • Enrich N Seal
  • Bulletproof by Stone Tech Pro
  • Buddy Rhodes Natural Look Sealer and Satin Sealer
  • AFM Safecoat Two Part Urethane Sealer

If the customer has further questions, they can contact our fabrication specialist, Joe Ranzoni at joe@icestone.biz

Hope this helps,

Andy

We put 2 coats on before we even put it on the saw.
