David,
Glad the gig went well.
I assume you have seen and bookmarked
this valuable banjo resource page
(my favorite: #123).
And if you ever decide to change names, you should
scan this page
so you don't, ummm... accidently duplicate a name.
Glad I could help.

Hey guys and gals, we decided to play for the KBBI fund raiser concert again this year. Just Sally and I this time along with Sally's lovely and talented 18 yr old daughter Oceanna on the fiddle for a few tunes. Here is a link to us doing a song I wrote, mostly as a practice tune to learn 6-8 timing with some sort of speed to do irish tunes. I call it "shut up and row" Oceanna designed the fiddle part just 2 days before the gig. Just a fun little tune, nuttin more! And yes it was windy and the poor ladies had wardrobe malfunctions that they simple laughed off.

That's a pretty fast 6/8.
It took me awhile to tell the difference between a jig, a reel, and a slip reel. Basically the jig is a 6/8 but sounds like 2/2 while the reel is a 4/4 - but with a lot of triplets, which tend to make it sound 6/8.
The slip reel is actually 9/8 because you have that throwaway beat.
Nice piece, David.

as John Doyle formerly of "Solas" says "one two tree, one two tree, one two tree"
as fast as you can. Too bad the sound guys didn't get any bottom end in the sound. I play that stuff in dropped "D" and drum on the droned "d". I noticed the acts that followed also had no bottom end in ther acoustic gitters. The station mngr says she wants to record our little tune to use it as filler during local broadcastings.

David:
I didn't see any of the promised "wardrobe malfunction".
Joe
P.S.:
Sounded real good though.

Joe, I missed it too! I heard the audience cheer though.
. I thought it was for me...
Darn wind!
