Damn Tom...

Shane,
Nice to hear from you. Yeah, I had to cut back on the posting diet. Doctor's orders.
Actually I didn't want to catch up with Andy.

Matt,
Do you think that if there were a few - say four - regional shows that you guys woiuld be amenable to take out a 20 x 10 or so?

No, I do not believe so.  I do not want to speak for our Marketing Dept., but we have limited budget for shows.  We are in some majors show through out the year that burn through that budget pretty quick.  I have heard estimates of over a quarter of million dollars is spent in a show like IBS.  Image is everything at these shows and 20 x 10 booths are not our style (right or wrong I do not know).

Thanks, Matt.
I think what we need to do is convince all you guys that we would be ok without a lot of flash, or size, or Zing!tm, but just support whatever we come up with in some small booth way. I really don't think your average fabricator would be upset that they weren't dazzled. Especially if the choice is not to show at all.

I would be interested in proof of that.  Last years solid surface show was interesting because some of competiotrs went the no "zing" way and heard a lot obout that.  Most of our shows are geared towards an audience that needs and want the "zing" like IBS and so forth.  Your comments are duly noted and will be relayed to the proper people.

Thank you. Matt.
If we have a place to chat, out of earshot of our regular wholesale customer base, I think that a more open, honest conversation can take place, and that is important.

All:

When it was time to book my room, I looked in the folder Cygnus sent and called the number for the organization that is handling that. I put the phone on speaker for over an hour and never got through. I tried the web site they mentioned, but found out later it was the incorrect address.

I booked my room at the regular rate and called Sandy Milroy, the only one I know at Cygnus. I explained my problem and she had a woman contact me. The woman said she would get back to me but she never has. Cygnus sent me an email a few days ago, I told them all this and no one has contacted me.

So there you have it. Cygnus publishes a phone number that you can't get through on, publishes an incorrect web address,  referes you to a woman who promises to get back to you and doesn't and doesn't return an email.

I'm just a paying customer, what should I expect?

All:

I emailed Sandy again and she said the woman I spoke to had gotten me the group rate but just hadn't notified me once she did. Sandy said she will fax the confirmation to me.

I guess it pays to have friends in high places.
