I don't know how many of you go to Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page Its a great place to gain knowledge. I notice there's not a section for Solid Surface. What's cool about the site is anyone can start a section. How about we work on it like we did with the warranty standards? Al can you take the lead? Maybe we can use the goggle shared file section again. We can create what we want the page to contain than we can host it. Gotta keep Solid Surface out there. I, am going to post this thread on the ISSFA BB as well. Both sites can contribute. What does everybody think? |

I went to the site and I couldn't find a solid surface section. Could you post the exact link? |

Andy that's because there isn't one yet. That's going to be our job. We make up the section and submit it. |

Got it now. Didn't read that the first time.
I will help, what do you want to do first? Do you want a definition of Solid Surface or a list of all the possibilities. |

Cripes, Jon, I thought you said you weren't the idea guy. I would consider myself lucky to have as few ideas as you. Good thinking. I don't think Wikipedia accepts anyone, so get your ss credentials ready for it. Make sure you have as many citations for your claims as you can.

Didn't Shane or someone post a link to the Sol. Surf. 2 paper at one of the other sites? That would be good to use as an "Outside source" as I think Wiki calls them.

Sorry, Jon, been busy a couple of days and hadn't had time to log in and check on things. Everyone get their name and email address to me and I'll set up a file or files to store the document.
Gread idea!

Jon, I have the file set up here, http://docs.google.com/View?docid=d...sp;Nothing but the file and a header so far. It is going to be tough to start working on this right away, got a home and garden show on the 18th, sample kitchen not even started yet, big job we are halfway through, and to top it all of, I have to fly to Portland, OR to collect my significant other on thursday and drive back due to the inability to take her dog in cargo on the airline. Old dog, almost didn't survive the trip out.
I'll put the usual suspects on the collaborator list tonight, I'm sure they won't mind.
Anyone else who wants on, and pray there is, needs to send me an email before Wensday afternoon if they want to work on it this weekend. Otherwise, I'll have to add them when I get back on Sunday or Monday.

So far, I have found Andy's, Daves, Shane, Tom, Karl, and Mory's emails and added them to the list.
Drafted, teach them to send me an email.
(chorus, YOUR IN THE ARMY NOW, YOUR NOT BEHIND A PLOW, YOUR DIGGING A DITCH FOR THAT .................)
Seriously, you guys start if you can and try to dragoon others into this as well. When I get my head above water after the 20th or so, I'll pitch in as well. Start your own separate paragraphs and someone will eventually edit it. It should save automatically, but do it before you close just in case.
Have fun, when you can. |

I posted this information on the goggle site. But I wanted every one to see it. Its a description of Solid Surface Russ Lee came up with. This is why this guy is a legend in our Industry.
Nice Job Russ !!
Solid Surface
Solid surface is a non-porous, renewable, low-maintenance countertop surface. A man-made product, it has the ability to mimic the appearance of stone, wood and other naturally occurring materials, yet can be joined nearly invisibly by a trained craftsman. Typically manufactured in sheet form for fabrication into finished countertops, solid surface can also be cast into a variety of shapes, including sinks, shower pans and even bathtubs. Sheet goods can also be heated and bent into three-dimensional shapes using a process called thermoforming, which greatly adds to the flexibility and versatility of the product.
In a residential setting, solid surface can be used with excellent results as kitchen countertops, bathroom vanity tops and shower and tub surrounds. Countertop professionals, known as “fabricators,” typically seam solid surface sheets into desired shapes using a two-part adhesive, after which the cured joint is machined perfectly flat. The same technology is used to create extra thick edges, which can be machined using similar tools and techniques as those used to work with hardwoods.
A major appeal of solid surface is its seamless nature. Solid surface sinks can be joined to the countertop surface with no gaps, which eliminates areas for water to collect and bacteria to grow. Integral backsplashes can also be created that follow the contours of the wall “seamlessly” and without gaps.
Should the material become scratched or broken, solid |

You know, you could nit-pick a few things here and there in Russ's description, but I don't think I could do a better job than that, ever.
Really well-done, Russ. You truly are. The. Man.
