Thanks to Ray, Chad or Doug.  I don't know who decided to put the color bigger than anything else on the label.  I just want to say THANK YOU,  THANK YOU, THANK YOU.

For years I have been looking for the color label and it is always the most difficult thing to find.  Check the picture.  This is a huge breakthrough.

Very nice, I can read it without my glasses.

WOW... isn't it nice that a company recognizes that the main group of fabricators, that have been using their product for years, is getting a little older, and many of them are needing glasses now.

This is customer satisfaction at it's finest!!  You think at some point they will put a "use by" date on the label too?

I know I just bought 10 from a company called Specia...  I can't remeber the rest of the name but they are in your area.

NO PARTS? Does that mean you do not have the collets for the big PC routers??

My guy has had me 2 ordered for about 3 months now.

3 months? I have them in stock. PC42950. What I mean by "parts" is the guy that calls me, bought the thing from Lowe/Depot and needs a 10 cent screw to hold his base on.

Let me know by 3:00pm EST and they'll go out today.

    Dave,

Is it true that if you buy a PC router from Home Depot/Lowe's, it will be a lesser quality router than one that is bought from you with the same model number? I bought one from Rockler. The one year warranty is a little slim. I moved into my house a year after I bought it, so that's when I started using it. With somewhere around four hours of use, the chip went out that monitors torque to keep the speed constant. A friend paid for the fix as a gift, so that was really cool of them, but I was still disappointed that it went down after such little use.

    Have a good day,

I could talk for hours on the differances in -SOME- tools by -SOME- tool manufactures that go in to box stores. But, their pockets as it relates to paying a legal staff are a hell of a lot deeper than mine. So let's just say, you get what you pay for.

As far as you having a new tool that you did not use for X amount of time, this issue has come up periodically over the years. You buy a tool from me, or any distributor for that matter, the warranty starts from the date of the invoice you sign. How in the world would we know when exactly you started using the tool? I have customers that will buy in bulk on say a router because it's a good deal, then put 2 or 3 in use in the shop and stash away the other 10 or so for the proverbial rainy day. If they don't crack that tool out for ayear, then they are not getting a warranty from that time. That would be akin to getting a 2 year warranty. Again, no way to tell.

I will tell you that FREUD has a new generation of routers, 2 to be exact. A 3 1/4HP plunge and a 2 1/4HP affixed base that a plunge base can be purchased for. Why do I tell you this? FREUD is pretty confident in their tools. These 2 routers have 5 year warranties!

Thanks for the info Dave. I didn't expect them to be psychics and know when I started using the tool. I was just disappointed that I spent approximately $250 on a tool that didn't hold up for more than four hours. Thanks for the info on the Freud routers. Hopefully it will be awhile before I personally need to buy another router, but it's good to know.

    Have a nice weekend,

Dave, maybe we can have someone on here test out one of those Freud routers, and give a review on it.  I'm thinking Steve from Monument could do it, I know he is not happy with the direction Porter Cable went.

Good idea Norm. Round up who wants to try them and I'll ship them off. Our most popular router is the Porter-Cable 7519. 3 1/4 hp non-plunge. The 3 1/4 hp Freud is only in a plunge version at this time but the hierarchy at FREUD has been getting their ears bent by me and they are listening.

    KC,

A "Use By" date is another label modification we have considered as a result of customer feedback. This is a little tougher to implement as it may involve changing the way we track and manage our production as far as retains, QA, etc.
We'll talk it over and see if we can come up with something.

    Thanks for the suggestion,

    Chad

If this is an Integra love fest, I am in.  Only glue in my shop.  The others are a gamble, so theirs is all we buy.

    Dave,

You can bring a 3 1/4HP Freud down one day yourself so we can test drive it. Til we go to lunch at the ale house.  Note:  the smaller models I bought from you work real well.  Takes a little getting used to the balance since it is a bit different from the PC, but works real good.  The micro adjustment on it is real nice.

    John C.

Alright John, I'll get you a 3 1/4 hp FREUD router so you can give it a workout for us. As it relates to the FREUD 2 1/4 hp router, you're not the 1st to tell me about getting used to the balance but, you get used to it. If you've used only one brand of router, as many have (Porter-Cable) there is a comfort factor that needs to be achieved. Another "comfort factor" is the price and warranty. A Porter-Cable 690LR 1 3/4 hp router can be purchased from $139.00 to $169.00 with a 1 year warranty. The FREUD 2 1/4hp router, is $199.00 with a 5 year waranty!
