Tom Pinske paid a visit to our shop today.  What a wealth of knowledge he provided us with, we thoroughly enjoyed his visit.  He will be in town for a couple of days.  I know there are fabricators in our area that read this board.  Tom brought his Harley along, so tomorrow, since the weather is supposed to be 85 degrees, we are going on about a 200 mile ride.  If anyone in the area wants to go along (sorry about the short notice) call me at the office, 402-991-7258.  I will post pictures later.

There are about 12-15 of us that will be riding tomorrow.   I also called a few guys and they will be joining us.  We should be riding just a little over 200 miles.  We will be stopping for lunch and no one knows what time we will be back.  See you tomorrow.  ( Andy, you better ride all night if you're going to make it in time.  We won't wait for you)

What did Tom do at your shop? Did he do any training, or just demonstrate his products.

When they called and asked if they could stop by, it may be a sales pitch to buy tools or attend his classes.  I was  wrong.  He was at our shop for quite a while.  He sat down with Travis on Auto-cad and spent alot of time in the shop with us.  we discussed alot of different ways to do things.  Showers are becoming a very big thing with us, so he discussed in detail how they do it and also drew us some good pictures.  Right on the plywood tables in the shop.  We also had some long discussions on cove.  He actually wanted to jump right in and grab a router and help build tops.  We enjoyed his visit and it was all free and not once did he try to sell us anything or even give us a catalog.   I will keep you up to date when I get back from the ride.

That is really cool, I have heard mixed things about his visits but I have talked with Tom several times over the years and he was always a real stand up guy and a wealth of information.

Ok, we're back.  Only six of us showed up.  We left at 9AM this morning and got back about 5PM.  Rode nearly 300 miles.  We took the scenic routes, or as scenic as you can get here in Nebraska.  We all had a good time.  Tom rides a real nice Harley and, of course, he has had it souped up.  He was able to keep up with us no matter what.  He probably could have shown us a thing or two.  You haven't seen anything until you have seen his motorcoach.  All I can say about that is Whoa.   It makes me want to sell a whole lot of solid surface.  I need one of these.  It has everything you could imagine, including grills that pop out of the side of the coach.  Outside entertainment center with surround sound, also built into the side of the coach.  This is better than a good many peoples homes.  It is also 75 feet long.  I could go on forever.  Not once out of the whole day did anyone try to sell anyone anything.  I did ask him to stop back at our shop the beginning of the week.  He said he would.  I was interested in talking to him about a thermoforming oven.  At our last stop, Tom and I were discussing making this a once a year event.  See if we can put out plenty of notice, so we can have a larger ride.  Nothing but fabricators. If you don't know who Tom is, his is the guy who is under 6 foot tall in the pictures.

Okay, I’m jealous.

I have been cutting parts all day, I am on about 350 cutting boards and still going. Looks like you guys had a good day to ride. Glad you had a good time.

I have a client that is marketing cutting boards out of PaperStone so he sent me the material to cut out for him. He needs about 800 or so, I figured I would go in today and get it done but it did not work out so well. The boards had juice grooves and handles and some are only about 8x13 so I get 42 out of a 4x8, problem is I only had an upcut spiral cutter…not a good idea with ¼ material and small parts. I ended up having to use double stick tape to help hold them down, not a big deal just took more time. I got about half of them cutout today and decided to do some more tomorrow. It took a little longer today because I had to keep changing the program. I finally did a double cut to keep them from moving (lifting up) and it worked much better. I will probably cut a few more sheets in the morning to finish the first color and do the rest when I get a down spiral cutter. My idea was to spend a Saturday and do it myself and save the labor cost. I ended up working my ass off and the whole time thinking about Mory out having a great time. Sometimes life is not fair. But on the good side I made over thousand dollars with my CNC today.[EMO]bigsmile.gif[/EMO]
