Hello Everyone I have a few pictures showing the corian benches we are doing . We are fabricating a bench that is 120 feet long. Made entirely out of Corian . Its a class gift to a Prep school so all of the donors names have been routed into it. We are using Lumistone for the letters. There are 7000 letters. The shop floor glows in the dark currently.

The rout program for the letters is a bear. One 30 x60 inch is taking 9 hours to rout!

I'll post some soon.

Lenny I hope we do you proud!

Jon,

That is awsome looking. When the letters were routed did you just leave a skin at the bottom or go all the way through? Looking forward to the finished photos.

Jon:

Did anyone do a mock-up or test before this project was approved? Was this some architects idea that you were sure you could execute?

Please,

Joe

Are you using Lumistone material or the glue?

Hello everyone sorry for the slow reply . It's code red hear!  Worked Saturday + Sunday. Tired of playing scrabble.

Mike- yes we leave a skin.

Kowboy- Yes we made a mock-up. Did lots of testing as well bending the lumistone.  Yes it was an Architects Idea that we worked with .

Andy- We are using the Lumistone.

Few more pics.  The shop looks funny at night when we turn the lights off lots of lumistone dust that glows. need to began installing on Wednesday PM . Have to finish on Friday AM. That's the easy part on this job.

Putting the letters in was quite the task .More than I thought. Jobs like this really show allot about your Guys in the shop. They have been giving it a 110 percent.

Are those letters sticking above the surface of the bench?  Do you now have to sand them down even?  Looks like a ton of work.

Hey Yes they are sticking above. Normally we would have the CNC plain the letters. This application is different. We made up a router on a ski . It gets most of it. But some of it has to be sanded with a belt sander(Sorry Bill)  .

Its allot of work. But I think the results will be worth it

Bill, respectfully, where you went wrong was deciding for you and everyone else that belt sanders were worthless for anything having to do with solid surface.

Bill's conclusion is that there are alot more folks out there that will destroy solid surface with a belt sander, than there are those that can use one effectively. Is that about right Bill?

Hi Jon,

Wow As one of Lumistones inventors Im really excited about this, and even more excited that an industry  legend like you has this job! Now I know why you were asking me all the questions about Lumistone earlier.

Thank you so much and please keep us informed as to the progress of this job.

Beltsanders,

Id put Kowboy(and a few others) with a beltsander in his hand up against anyone in the industry, and bet money on the outcome . In Joes  hands a beltsander is a fine  precision surgical tool! In my hands, watch out, please step back and take care for your fingers and toes!
