Wow Gene,

That is fantastic. The particles which appear white in the daylight glow blue in the dark (as they should).

What a great application. I especially liked the resin aound the particles which appeares to be lightly tinted to a translucent blue to allow more transmission of light., and hence more charging of the crunch to help maximize glow of the smaller particle. That was smart!!!!

Excellent work  Gene!

what a nice idea for the honeymoon suites at some of the fine hotels...much more attractive then the Red bedspreads and a heart shaped tub ...that tub surround in Lumistone will amke a heart shape tub outstanding.....

Gene, at some point you are going to need a patent attorney, heck if Dupont can have a patent on a cooktop cutout......................................

Norm,

Does DuPont really have a patent for a cooktop cut-out? . We have particles covered as part of the lumistone patent, but if Gene wants to crush up LUMISTONE to make his own particle filled inlays he has my permission. We currently sell lumistone to a company that crushes them expressly for particles.

Also thats a great idea Gene. If this idea is patentable (novel, not coved by other patents), it should belong to Gene who just tried the idea out. And If it isnt patentable, I expect it wont be long before we will be seeing Genes name on a patent. He is a truly creative guy.

A few patent hints- you have 1 year from the first offer of sale, or from disclosure in print to file your patent application. And if successful 3-5 years later (the patent office is really backed up). You will see your name on a patent. I have 2 in the pipeline currently on this and that.

All the best,

Lenny

Gene,

Wow, that looks great! It looks so cool when the light is shining through the table, it gives it more depth and contrast. Man two thumbs up!!!

The fabrication looks excellent.  But, I am more impressed with your design ideas than anything else.  I wish I had a nack for creating some of those ideas.

Be sure to enter the design contest.  I'm tired of seeing Sterling Surfaces walk away with the trophy every year.    Just Kidding Jon.

Andy,

I think Gene is going to give  Jon a run for his money this year in the ole design contest. My goodness, that will be the battle of the Titans.

I expect to see great things from both Gene and Jon!

Gene is the favorite to win. But you know if more Fabrciaotrs entered Sterling would have less chances to win. So lets see some entries...

Gene, how come you have dark edges showing around the edge of the table? Looks awesome, there was a design for a a home made vacuum somewhere here on fabnet that might work for you.

Gene,

Are your art projects commissioned for customers or do you just make them when you have free time?

well Both...these are protypes for night tables for a persons bedroom...I dont charge extra for extra inlay work cause Im obtaining experience which makes me more comfortable to do...I also set up booths at various Art shows and make my stuff smaller to give them ideas...

I'm trying to initiate a furniture line that I can ship anywhere...The customer gets the tables for a descent price, i get the picture and then email it to Architects and designers...and outta 100 designers, etc...one usually bites because they are in competition as welll

got  a new exciting job coming up with my Lumicrunch inlay for the kids bathrooms, just because I had the pictures and the sample... the rooms have skylighhts so the light hits it all day so its a nice night light in the bathroom as well their nite tables

wow Andy, you asked me what time it is and I tell ya how to build a clock

I also was excited because I got the Glass series inlay thermoforming  thing down pat

I think when everyone is slow or got some time they should practice innovation...turn up the music in the shop at night and CREATE...Its an ART thing most wont understand

Gene smart move not charging for inlay. While your making a name for yourself. There will come a time when you'll name your price. As your legend grows.

Let me know how the bends come out. That's a tough color to bend. But everything is possible.

well Jon..that curved piece is the Antique Glass series with Frosted Glass strips and Amber Glass in the middle...that was a bigger radius...im playing around now with the 3d concept thermoforming...I realizing it would be easier with a machine..I guess i figure do the best i can with my hands...in case the machine breaks down and if it doesnt I'll have my bases covered...

That regional meeting all about thermoforming got me addicted to it
