Hello everyone. Wow! some really good ideas and points here. Love the picture as well. SS is really is its beginning. We have only scratched the Surface you might say. Yes in your showroom you should be showing the drain boards, Cove, !/4 BS with a tile look on top of a 3/8 tile cove.

I had some other ideas as well what about a cooling device under a portion of the top. That kept produce and Meats including Fish (Cant do that with Granite) fresh while its being prepared?

Lighting is going to be very big. Backlighting Solid Surface has many possibilities. So far we have talked about CT's . But there are other areas where SS is an outstanding product.  Furniture, Medical and not just Hospital CT'S I have seen it used on medical equipment trays, !/4 panels that light up with videos or messaging.

We cant sit back and wait for it to come to us . We have to be proactive. Yes many of you make a living working with Granite same hear we sell more Granite tops than SS. So I' am not blind to that world. But I see that SS is on its way back . I don't plan on being in the back seat.

One very influential designer . Told me that "Granite is so wanting. Its now just a commodity." That,s the beauty of SS its on its first leg.

Those are some great ideas, Jon.

We have already done some great backlighting work with Avonite Glass products. With a painted bottom and rope lights underneath, it actually looks really trick. One of the app.s we used it on was as a nightlight in a bathroom vanity. I liked it so much, I am going to do it my hall bath when I get the time.

I personally prefer SS, but I can't deny the job security in stone (bear in mind we are a R&R company).

The design winner in Surface mag, Gene Macdonald of Creative Arts did back lighting in Avonites glass line in a bar for the local Hilton.

I talked to Kevin Cole this week. He feels your pain. This year I think you'll see much more attention paid to Solid Surface.

Even though many SS fabricators dabble (install) stone and many have gotten in to full blow fabrication of both, I would submit that Surface mag has to get back to its roots. Has to. While I don't speak for Cygnus' wallet. are there not enough all stone magazines out there? One of them I recd. this week had a full page EOS ad in it.  Not much else to speak of as it relates to SS.

Kevin Cole is a smart guy and I'm sure the powers that be see the direction of both sides.

Good points Dave. Kevin is listening

PS EOS is the solid surface of choice for Granite fabricators.  For obvious reasons.

EOS has a nice ad on page 37 of the March issue of Stone Business magazine. The one line in the ad that's interesting is: "Not available in home centers."

Guys, keeping in mind that I was one of the ones asking the same questions, Jon is on target.  Things have changed in their direction.  We do indeed have a friend in Mr. Cole.

Enough about that, lets just say I believe....

Dave:

Surprisingly enough, we agree again. That is a very interesting line in the ad.

It lets fabricators know that they won't be competing against heavily-discounted material as offered by the major manufacturer's to their big box fabricators.

It also shows that EOS cares very much about how they're perceived by fabricators. This can only be a good thing for fabricators and EOS, ultimately.
