Anyone know how to convert a Jpeg file into an EPS file for a laser?

Thanks,

Al, are you talking about a 2 dimensional drawing? You would need a tracing program, such as Corel's OCR Trace. It isn't the greatest image top get, but if your lines are clean enough, it should work.

That will be difficult to do.  Corel Trace or Adobe Illustrator Trace will do well but nothing like an original Vector image.

Send me the image and I will run it on Illustrator.  No guarantees on what we get but I will give it a try for ya.

Unless you have a large file you're going to run into issues with a jpeg. On smaller images the edges are just too rough so you'll have to do a lot of cleanup work.

I was going to put a link to a recent thread on stoneadvice but I don't think that would help you out too much...

I converted the file Al sent that was a jpeg.  Fortunately it was clean enough to make a good trace.  I opened in Adobe Illustrator C3 and used the Live Trace function.  After a little tweeking, the image came out really nice.

The picture on the left is the original and the right is after the trace.

When you bring it into AutoCad as a DXF it will strip the black fill and give you just an outline of all the pieces.

The only problem I see with these types of conversions is the thicker the line, often the trace program breaks them up into many parallel lines, so the outside circle, for instance, may have 3 or 4 circles.

You can also make the field clear in Illustrator if you are having a problem with multiple lines.  It didn't do that on this one.
