Anyone using Laser tape measures? Mike Gladstone templated an estone job for me today and showed me one.  How much do you need to spend on these things?

Didn't Gordon with LaserSquare have one they were selling.  We had one for estimating but we took it back cause it really didn't increase effeciency.  That was years ago.

Andy, I thought it would be perfect for measuring kitchens for cabinet layouts. I hate asking the customer to hold the other end of the tape on a long wall.

Any advertisers on here sell those things you be talking about....I have the Ghetto version Norm...Its a normal tape that the customer will still hafta hold the Dummy end but it has a viewer on top of the tape and tells you digitally what the measurement is..it bascially has two dummy ends

ya ever hear someone tell you that the counter needs to be 51 and 4 little lines with one bigger one if anyone on hear has one of those instant message me somehow or other fabnetters where can I get one.

Gene, I think the more famous measurement is 51 and a quarter and a sixteenth.

we refer to 1/16 as    "a fizzy fuzz" or "smidgen"   "skoash"    "puby"  "half an eigth"

"double 30 secondth"     51 and 1/4 plus a fizzy fuzz

The laser tape measure I showed Norm was made by Leica. They have a whole range of models from basic to advanced. The one I use has an accuracy within 1/32nd. Super fast and accurate. It was bought from TigerDirect.com.
