I own a Holz-Her 1225 Panel Saw with the electronic measuring indicator on the horizontal and vertical.  Just recently, the vertical measuring device stopped reading accurately.

What to do? I called into the parts department and determined the part number.  I was thinking because it has wires, everything with wires cost four times the amount, it would cost about $250 or so.  Picking myself off the office floor, I had the parts guy repeat the cost...it was $1300.

I thought the electronic portion would be cool, but like on a table saw, can't we just stick with the ruler and indicator with a little adjustment each way when you change the blade.

This sucks.

I've got a Holz-Her 1265 but it has standard meauring rules. I've had it for about 12 years and the rulers have not stopped working once and I have never had to adjust them. The only item I have had to replace is one of the relays in the control box at about $100.00 dollars. It's a standard part that can be had at any electrical supply company and takes maybe 15 minutes to replace.

I think I am going to switch to standard ruler with indicator.  My only concern is that you can't make a cut and then measure from the initial cut down to cut strips.

Does your saw have this capability?

The Streibig has a movable stop that works pretty well, but you have to be careful not to break the ruler.

Andy,

My saw has an indexing bar for repetitive horizontal cuts. Set the cut you want on the scale and make your first cut on the top of the sheet and then set the index bar on the new cut. Run the saw down to the stop on the index bar, lock and cut. Repeat as necessary. The process is much faster than I can describe it. Works very well. You can probably add this to your saw for less than $1300.00!
