I was cutting out a project for my MOM (round table) and almost broke my arm off on the CNC. I will take a picture after I take the Ice Pack off. Since this has become a Blaming society, I would like to blame Bill because he forced me to work on the table.  |

Okay,
1st. I am not the only one telling you to make the table. 
2nd. If you can not operate your own tools safely, maybe you should hire somebody that can. 
3rd. I hope you are okay! (do you need any more ice?)
4th. How does the table look? Can we see pictures? Oh, with your injury you might not be done yet. Ho problem, at last count there were still 24 days 'til Christmas.  |

Thanks for the support Patrick.  I should learn that the CNC does not care who is in the way and it will move through anything to complete its task. I like the idea of the foot pressure system. Does it just pause the machine when you get too close? Bill, I was just so focused on fixing a stupid little thing on the CNC, i wasn't paying attention to the danger. Good lesson to me for future use. I'll learn from this mistake for sure. I am taking pictures of the entire process so I will post when complete. |

There are pads that you can place around the cnc on the floor. If someone steps on the pad it cuts the machine off like an e-stop button. |

wow sorry to here that. sometimes you need to get bit to learn not to pet the pretty dog while it is eating.
safety is always rule #1 im sure you are a safe person but it only takes one time and you are hurt |

since I been on here Andy seem to have been getting his butt wooped...If this keeps up Andy we are gonna need a first aid section  now i know safety isnt a joke and i am sure you know the reading of all the safety literature...just once in awhile a wake up call hits us...some get worse and some get hit in the arm...i feel bad when someone gets hurt and can never work again...or others in the shop forget to tighten blades...i worked in some crazy shops and saw many crazy accidents...that were out right STUPID...I know people use there legs as a saw horse when cutting trim....dont come crying when your thigh gets split open but you Andy im sure it was just one of those things you thought it can never happen...look at it as a type of tax...just like speeding...dont whine about itwhen ya get caught...glad the ticket isnt for the times you got away with speeding but i cant resist.....talk about Moms twisting your arm to make a table jeez....this table sure has a story...you should enter it in the design contest with a bunch of band aids inlay into it  |

UPDATE: Arm is not getting worse although there is a large bumb where the spindle squished it. Table is almost done and will post pictures.
I do seem to be getting my butt kicked. First the chin, now the arm. Unless I forgot something, that is it for now. Woops, forgot the time when I routed my finger with a chamfer bit. That hurt.
Oh and forgot the time when a nail shot through my finger and my Dad had to pull it out but that was over 20 years ago.

Andy,
I do hope you are A-OK. Im shocked. Youre one of my favorite people. I would much rather show up at the surfaces show in Orlando and do some volunteer work at the fabnet booth in lieu being a bereaved pall bearer at your funeral, crying OMG..ANDY!!!!!  Be careful!!!!
BTW I always considered you as Mr Safety. In shop we had these books, with this caricature called Sammy Safety. My God man , in my mind I always equated Sammy Safety with you. Please dont do like me, run down stairs with knives, sharp objects and/or loaded weapons.
While I may lead a charmed life, seldom do others. BTW my wife took out a mega life insurance policy on me...hint hint, wink , wink

I took a picture of my arm but it didn't show anything. But here is the picture of the location on the CNC where it got pinched. Looks pretty narrow between the Black spindle and the Blue motor.  |
